Having faith during times of Adversity

Having faith during times of Adversity

Life can be full of pain, darkness with unexpected twist and turns which makes hard for you to rely upon God in this world. There could be times where you could have loads of questions going through your mind which may get unanswered. Why is it that I am alone? Why am I going through what I am going through? Have you lost hope? Do you fear the future? One mantra you need to hold on to very strongly is never lose your Faith. It is faith that will allow you to overcome all of the hurdles and tough times that you may currently be facing.

God is never far away from your prayers. Prophet Habakkuh cries to the Lord “How long, oh LORD, will I call for help?” (Habakkuk 1:2). He cries to the Lord that Lord is taking too long to respond to his prayer. Habakkuk was in the same situation we often find ourselves in. Sometimes we expect God to respond quickly so that we can immediately be resolved of our pain and strife. God responded in a different way to his question: “Look among the nations! Observe! Be astonished! Wonder! Because I am doing something in your days--you would not believe if you were told” (v. 5). Habakkuk could not understand what God was doing but God was doing something great for him. All you need to do is to have a strong faith in God in times of darkness.

In Psalm 22 David cried out “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?” David is going through a rough path where he is all alone in the Judean desert. David had no hopes both spiritually and physically. He was almost on the verge of his death. Somewhere David had the faith and he was sure that the God he trusted would lead him through his dark time. That faith in the darkness let him to reach the Engedi Oasis and David knew that it was only God who had taken him that far. God has a Engedi in your life if you just trust him blindly. Making it through his ordeal led David to write Psalm 23  “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” When you have faith in the times of darkness God is there to lead you as a Shepherd. Don’t lose your hope, put your trust in God and wait for your time which God has set for you. And He will bless you in His own time.
